Ronnie Payne, potter
His first pieces of pottery were turned on a handmade kickwheel that he helped build at the age of 17. Following in the utilitarian tradition of Art Potters - he mixes his stoneware clay and formulates his own
glaze colors. In 2001, Ronnie opened his studio, he works as a full time potter. Along
with the Functional Pottery, he also turns on the wheel a variety of Folk Art pieces. His attention to detail and love for creating the pottery is shown in each
piece.
Ronnie with his wife, Brhonda exhibits at local and regional Arts & Crafts Festivals, their pottery has
won many awards. Many of their pieces are found in collections across the world.
Their pottery has been featured at the Cultural Arts Alliance Open House and at the Bartow County History Center during the
Mr. Gordy Tribute in 2006.
Brhonda Payne, decorator of pottery, jewelry designer
After the pottery is turned, she will decorate the piece with a
variety of hand sculpted ideas, such as calla lilies, dogwoods and grapes, this is done on pitchers, vases, jugs, bowls and
cannister sets. The cutout work is done on bowls and candle holders/candle lanterns as well as hand carved pieces.
She also creates Pottery Pendants, these are pottery pieces created in a variety of hand sculpted designs, or small miniature
jugs that Ronnie has turned, wrapped with Sterling Silver. She also make earrings and bracelets made from 14 kt. gold filled, sterling silver,
swarovski crystals, antique beads and natural gemstones, each one a unique piece of art.
